In real estate, there are no lemon laws that I am aware of.  If you buy a house and a month later, you find out that it needs a new roof... sorry, but you are going to have to pay for it.  Something "pops up" that you didn't know about 3 weeks after closing? You probably aren't going to be able to sue anyone (at least in most states) under the lemon law statutes...

Which is why it makes sense to get a home inspection before you close on your home. 

Is a home inspection required? Sometimes, sometimes not. But you would be wise to get a home inspection each and every time you buy a new house.
